The Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless Power Bank

The iPhone 12 series MagSafe technological innovation not simply makes charging a lot easier, what’s more, it allows useful accessories which are simple and easy to be connected magnetically to the smartphones without the need of using a cover. Probably the most desired of these is a portable powerbank, and it looks like the company Anker is going to get one on the market right before Apple can.

PowerCore Wireless Power Bank

Only a few days back, Bloomberg said anonymous information sources inside of a report that stated Apple were engaged on an upgrade to its Smart Battery Cases that removes the cover altogether. As a substitute, this improved battery pack securely attaches on to the rear of the Apple iPhone 12 utilizing the MagSafe magnets, while delivering a recharge using wireless induction technological know-how.

Exactly why it?s taken an extended time to appreciate an accessory that seemed like a clear unit to release along with the brand new Apple iPhone 12 series when the phone had been originally revealed last year is unknown, however Apple does have a history with remaining extremely cautious with power related accessories, remember the duck head recalls, replacement batteries in the phones and laptops, and not far back completely dropping the AirPower charging mat it had announced at an event.

Anler’s PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless Powerbank

Whatever any reasons are for Apple not being able to have a MagSafe battery ready could possibly be moot, as starting on March 3 2021, the company Anker will commence shipping their version. Their PowerCore Magnetic Wireless Power Bank is built with a 5,000mAh battery, and although that’s larger than the OEM batteries built into Apple’s iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12, and and indeed the iPhone 12 Pro Max, MagSafe wireless charging ability just isn’t as good as what charging with a cable is. Consequently, Anker claims its new magnetic power bank can just recharge your iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro Max to 95%, 97%, and 75% of the device’s maximum capacities. It is able to, however, completely recharge a flat iPhone 12 Mini, and will still have some capacity to spare.

The Anker PowerCore Power Bank may only be recharged utilizing a USB-C cable. It does not appear that you are able to place it on a wireless charging pad to repower it, and due to the fact that it’s not an officially certified MagSafe unit it’s only as MagSafe compatible that can potentially charge at speeds of up to 15W, this magnetic wireless power bank is limited to 7.5 watts. It is a small disadvantage, but a disadvantage nonetheless.

And if Apple does release its MagSafe power supply, it’ll undoubtedly make use of the highest MagSafe charging rates, but much like every one of Apple’s accessories, the powerbank we believe will not be cheap. Regardless of the reduced charging rate roughly equivalent to the charging rate of the 5 watt power bricks that Apple used to include with their phones, Anler’s PowerCore Magnetic Wireless Power Bank will undoubtedly be on sale when it ships shortly. This is probably the most compelling excuse not to wait for Apple.

MagSafe: Everything About Apple’s New iPhone 12 Charging Technology

One unfortunate similarity between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro is battery life or lack thereof. Both give passable performance, but this is a step back from last year’s iPhones. I’ve typically been getting around just over four hours of usage for each full charge on a mix of 5G, 4G, and also Wi-Fi. Now, that only a day’s usage, and has very little buffer. As an example, I was easily able to see nearly a day and a half from the iPhone 11 and also the iPhone XR. A day per charge is acceptable, but this would have been nice if there was more of a safety net for those days where there is heavy usage.

And on a charging note, Apple has made a rather interesting policy of stopping providing power bricks and earbuds with the devices because of environmental reasons. So all you will find in their box – other than the iPhone 12 itself – is a USB Type C to Lightning cable. We don’t think this is a big deal. Apple’s Earpods aren’t the best, & most people do have a power adaptor already. And the tricky bit is the company’s choice of cord. You will be needing a charger with a USB_C port to use the cable and if you’re upgrading from the iPhone 11 series, your iPhone power adaptor will come with a full-sized USB connector.
And you may use the old charger and cable, but you’ll miss out on the the faster charging speeds the iPhone 12 can get. And if you wish to pick up a USB-C power brick, you will be outlaying $40 in order to get one of these.

MagSafe Uses Magnets

and of course, Apple now has a new wireless charging system: known as MagSafe. MagSafe is a puck-like wireless charger that magnetically snaps to the back of the iPhone 12. And this ensures the best connection to get faster wireless charging, it means you can still use the iPhone while it is juicing – which you simply can’t do with a normal charger. You’ll still be able to achieve a faster top up with a normal charger, however MagSafe is able to charge the iPhone 12 from zero charge up to about 40% in around half an hour.
Because it is Apple purchasing into MagSafe will cost you. You will have to pay just $65 just for the charger itself, as well as $28.99 if you require a USB Type C charging adaptor. And if you are wanting the magnets to snap to your cover or case, you will need to purchase a MagSafe case. A MagSafe charger will provide charge through any case, but it just won’t stick to non MagSafe cases. MagSafe cases and covers are priced from around the $80 price point.
While there are parts of Apple’s MagSafe that are OEM, it will charge as a QI wireless charger that operates with any device that uses wireless charging. The charge is a bit slower, however as quick. At the moment, MagSafe is a fun but somewhat expensive option, but I am really curious to see where MagSafe will lead.
And a lot of people do not need a MagSafe charger for the office, there sure is much potential when it comes to MagSafe accessories like car mounts where it could save time.
